Herbs vs. Pharmaceuticals

Although certain cultures have experienced herbal amnesia with regard to the “roots” of medicine, herbal medicine is not new. The cardiac glycosides (digitoxin, digoxin) used to treat heart disease are often called digitalis because of their foxglove (digitalis) plant origin.
