What drives Renee?

AN UNYIELDING DESIRE TO REDUCE YOUR DEPENDENCY ON PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS

  • Alleviates the potential to experience unwanted side-effects of FDA approved drugs
  • Protects your stomach, liver, and kidneys from irreversible damage
  • Protect you from drugs the FDA later deems dangerous
  • Improves family relationships as some meds can affect your mood

A REALIZATION THAT COMBINING HEALTHCARE MODALITIES IMPROVES YOUR OUTCOMES

  • No medicine is a panacea: no medicine can cure 100% of the people 100% of the time
  • Plan integration provides a rounded treatment approach to your ailment
  • Eastern methods can ameliorate symptoms caused by western treatment protocols

EMPOWERING YOU TO AWAKEN YOUR SELF-HEALING MECHANISM

  • The body is a complicated chemistry lab but we can overwhelm it with poor nutrition
  • The constant fight or flight cycle can be calmed by tapping into the amygdala with acupuncture
  • Exercises in listening to your body can help you make choices that improve your health

I cannot promise to be able to help everyone.  But my personal pledge is to ALWAYS give my absolute best to everyone that walks  through the door.

-Renee

Educational Details

Dr. Renee Hotep completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Texas State University, and completed over 3,000 hours of Eastern medicine education at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine.  There she studied under brilliant professors who were Doctors of Oriental Medicine as well as M.D.s.  The previous was invaluable, as these professors had added insight regarding conditions better treated by Western or Eastern medicine.

Additionally, intensive study of over 300 individual Chinese herbs and herbal formulations was a major component of study along with utilizing western medicine in concert with Traditional Chinese Medicine.  She furthered her study at Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCTCM), which boast an overall ranking in the top three Traditional Chinese Medicine Schools in the United States.  There she completed her Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine, with a perfect grade point average and became eligible to test to obtain her Doctor’s of Oriental Medicine. Renee became nationally board certified by the National Counsel Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), after passing the national board examinations in Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese herbs, and Bio-Medicine.

Having had a priceless internship experience at Baylor College of Medicine, Renee felt it imperative to add to her Eastern medicine knowledge base by studying abroad in Asia.  She attended the world-renowned Chengdu Teaching University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China.  There she embarked upon an intensive training program under leading authorities in Internal Medicine, Gynecology, General acupuncture, Tui Na (Asian therapeutic massage techniques), and Traumatology.  There she enjoyed the best of both worlds; treating patients in the hospital while easily integrating Chinese medicine with modern bio-medicine and medical technology for the best patient care. She also enjoyed access to herbs not available in the states.

In addition to private practice, Renee is currently part of a research team at Banner Alzheimer Institute (BAI) located in Phoenix, AZ.  The research is headed by Dr. Johannah Uriri- Glover and Dr. Pierre Tariot studying the effects of lavender oil on sleep disturbance in Alzheimer’s & dementia patients.  She has already agreed to expand her role on the research team and intends to continue consulting on research projects related to her area of expertise, and that are in line with her personal goal of “Improving quality of life and relieving human suffering naturally.”
